BAYTOWN, Tex. (April 27, 2014) – Terry McMillen and his AMALIE® Motor Oil Instigator Top Fuel dragster made big improvements Sunday during eliminations when they posted a 3.866 second run at 321.81MPH. The effort would not be enough to overcome the number one qualifier, Steve Torrence, when he set top speed, track record and best elapsed time of the event (3.776 @ 328.86MPH) in round one of eliminations.
“Try, try, try and try again,” McMillen said. “Quit is not in our vocabulary, In fact I don’t even know how to spell it. I’m not going to lie, it was a tough weekend. We struggled every step of the way. But we fought through it and we were able to get the car to run a competitive number on Sunday. Hopefully we have a new baseline and something we can take to Atlanta and improve on.”
The next stop for Terry McMillen Racing and the NHRA tour is the Atlanta Dragway, May 16-18 in Commerce, Georgia.
