San Antonio, TX – Terry Mc Millen has fueled up the Amalie Oil InstiGator Funny Car with Torco Racing Fuel, expecting Texas sized results at the upcoming Amalie Oil Texas Nationals in San Antonio on April 1-2 at the San Antonio Raceway. This 4th annual event is presented by Ancira Cars, Trucks and RVs and San Antonio Express News.
“We’ve worked all winter long, tested and tuned in Texas more than any other funny car team, we’re expecting big results at this race and for the season,” commented Terry.
Mc Millen recently returned from the Spring Meltdown in Abilene, Texas where he made several test passes down the track. “The InstiGator was making good horsepower and we had very good incremental times. We’re ready for the Amalie Oil Texas Nationals,” stated Mc Millen, “it’s time to see how all of our winter work will pay off.”
The Amalie Oil Texas Nationals is the first stop of the 12-race IHRA season, which features 3 Canadian races. “The first race of any season always make things a little more exciting,” said Terry. He continued, “For our team, it’s a little more intense. Not only is Amalie Oil our major marketing partner and the title sponsor of the race, but also add to that the fact that this is our first race with Torco Race Fuels on board as a major associate sponsor and they are the Official Fuel of the IHRA. When you add all that up you have a recipe for excitement!”
Last year, Mc Millen was able to advance to the semi-final round of the Amalie Oil Texas Nationals after qualifying fifth. “We got off to a good start. The momentum started right here at the San Antonio Raceway last season. Now it’s time to turn up the heat in Texas,” said Rhonda Mc Millen, team co-owner.
Terry Mc Millen had an impressive season in 2004 with 3 quarter-final, 5 semi-final and 1 final round appearance, before finishing a career best, third in IHRA points. Rhonda Mc Millen added, “We would love to trade a few of those semi-final appearances into wins this season.”
The Amalie Oil Texas Nationals is one of Hoosier Thunder Motorsports’ favorite races. “This is a great race for Amalie”, explained Terry. “Amalie gets a lot of support from NAPA Auto Centers in Texas, plus all of the folks at NAPA show strong support for our team. In fact, we’ve got some of the best support in racing and I couldn’t do it without great companies like: Amalie Oil, Torco Race Fuels, Flatout Gaskets, NGK Spark Plugs, MSD, Vintage Trailers, Performance Graphics, Powershield Coatings and Crane Cams.”
Amalie, the Official Motor Oil of the IHRA, also sponsors the 10th Amalie Oil North American Nationals, which will be contested in September at the New England Dragway in Epping, NH.
