If the heart of Rock and Roll is in Cleveland, then the heartbeat will be just a few miles west in Norwalk at the Skull Shine World Nationals contested at Norwalk Raceway Park. After a runner-up finish in Martin just two weeks ago, Terry McMillen, driver of the Amalie Oil InstiGator Funny Car feels like he has his finger on the pulse.
The Torco Race Fuels powered hotrod is running some of the best elapsed times in the heat of mid-day qualifying. “Right now our car is living up to its Amalie slogan,” said McMillen. “It’s better than it has to be. All we need to do now is finish strong and get the win we need to really mix up the point standings.”
McMillen and the Hoosier Thunder Motorsports team have fought back all season long to stay in the hunt for the IHRA Alcohol Funny Car Championship. “This might be as close as we’ve ever been at mid season, point wise,” McMillen added. “We still control our own destiny. We’re expecting a successful weekend, although Norwalk always brings out the highest level of competition, so it should be a great race.”
McMillen makes his usual media rounds to promote the race and his partners. McMillen appeared on “Good Company” a mid-morning show on Cleveland’s NBC affiliate, WKYC from 10AM – 11AM. McMillen is also schedule for an in-studio appearance on Cleveland’s WGAR, which has been promoting the “Ride of Your Life” promotion where lucky fans get to ride with McMillen in the No Limit Custom Coach 2-seat dragster. “We’ve had a lot of fun with this dragster,” said McMillen. “It’s been a great promotion for IHRA, No Limit and the look on people’s faces after their ride is almost priceless for our team.”
