Rhonda and I made the trip to Sandusky, Ohio for the IHRA Awards Banquet. Sure nice having the awards ceremony back in the Midwest. The IHRA did a great job of picking the location. Seeing all the families enjoy the water park was awesome. The only trauma experience was the site of some folks in a bathing suits. Thankfully none of them were IHRA racers.
My hat’s off to all the winners and the staff at IHRA. Walking in the door of the banquet hall you knew this was going to be special. From the awesome lighting on the stage (which mind you IHRA had to provide a pair of large diesel generators to run the lights), to the rock concert feeling, it made me realize how special this night was.
My most memorable moment was the awarding of the Sportsman of the Year award. To see Jack Wyatt become speechless and fighting back emotions was truly awesome. Here is a guy that gives all he can to the sport he loves. For him to win the biggest, baddest award one could be awarded in IHRA was special.
With the IHRA banquet behind us now I feel it’s time for closure of the 2007 season. It’s time to prepare for the 2008 season.
The entire staff from Hoosier Thunder Motorsports wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Take the day and enjoy the time with your family and friends.
