INDIANAPOLIS – The Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation recently announced Thursday July 23, 2009 as the date for its 7th Annual Women in the Winner’s Circle Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Indianapolis Motor Speedy and held at The Plaza Village Pavilion in Indianapolis, Indiana.
New Breed Racing’s Alesi Gerthe has been invited to attend and join Lyn St. James in celebrating the diversity and successes for women in motorsports during the centennial anniversary of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at their VIP reception, followed by the awards ceremony.
“This is such an awesome opportunity that has been extended to me and I am looking forward to being there with Ms. St. James, along with other invited drivers such as Janet Guthrie, Sarah Fisher, Melanie Troxel, and many other talented racers,” commented Alesi. “Being a part of this event and organization has been a goal of mine for some time and I appreciate all of the help I received from those who wrote letters of recommendation to accompany my application earlier this year. I would also like to say a special ‘thank you’ to my Mom who helped me put together my application. I would not be where I am today without the support and guidance of so many.
The annual Women in the Winner’s Circle Awards Ceremony, which began
in 2003, is the Foundation’s major fundraiser as well as celebrating
the success of women in racing, helping them build strong ties with
each other and the motorsports community. The event brings together
women racecar drivers from the past, present and future and raises
funds to sustain its programs that support, celebrate, educate and
train aspiring young women racecar drivers. Founded in 1994 by Lyn St.
James, the Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation is a 501(c)(3)
organization that provides opportunities for the positive development
and advancement of women worldwide in the motorsports industry through
its Driver Development Academy, Project Podium matching grant program,
and its contributions to programs that promote diversity and
development of women in the industry.
