BRAINERD, Minn. – With just eight rounds of racing left before The Countdown to the Championship begins, Terry McMillen, driver of the Amalie Oil/UNOH/Motor State Distributing Top Fuel Dragster feels his team has more to race for than The Countdown. His Elkhart, Ind. team trails the 10th and final spot by less than one round of competition.
While the tight competition would be enough to motivate any team at this point of the season, McMillen found extra motivation this week, albeit unwanted. “We’ll be racing with heavy hearts,” McMillen said. “This week I suddenly lost a dear friend and one of Amalie’s greatest ambassadors. Don Bosley was Amalie’s Northeast District Manager and a friend to our team. His first day on the job was at a race in Epping, N.H. and he supported us all the way to where we are at today. Our prayers are with his wife, daughters and family. He is already dearly missed.”
McMillen’s car will carry a decal “Racing in memory of Don Bosley” for the Brainerd Race.
“We’ve been really focused on making the Top 10 this season,” McMillen said. “Maybe other teams take it for granted – we don’t. We’re measuring every aspect of our performance and we’ve improved in every category except oil downs and position in the points standing. We’re qualifying better, we’re winning more rounds – now we just need the last piece of the puzzle. We need to make The Countdown.”
