POMONA, Calif. (November 16, 2014) – Terry McMillen Racing team owner Terry McMillen announced today that his Amalie Oil Instagator Top Fuel Team, with the University of Northwestern Ohio, Allstar Performance, Ross Racing Pistons, Flatout Gaskets, GeniusTools, Carrillo Rods, Motive Gear, Clean Seal and SWECO associate sponsors will make a change for the upcoming 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Championship Drag Racing Series.
The ‘wholesale’ changes are not something that McMillen took lightly.
“It was probably the toughest decision I’ve ever made in my life,” McMillen said shortly after narrowly missing the field for the NHRA Finals. “My crew is like my family. I spend more time with these guys than I do my family and they’re some of the best guys I’ve ever worked with in my life. But like any other business, there are tough decisions that have to be made and this was by far the toughest of my career. I’m extremely grateful for all that they have done to get our program to this level.”
Plans for the future of the Elkhart, Indiana based team have not been set, but McMillen knows it will be a busy offseason.
“We’re going to do everything in our power to build a championship contending team and our future starts today,” McMillen continued. “We’re going to evaluate every aspect of what we do and what it will take to get to the next level. From every nut and bolt to whether our racing operations run out of Elkhart or Indianapolis, it’s all on the table. Our marketing partners and our fans deserve our best performance week in and week out and we’ve got less than 80 days to develop that plan for them.”
The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing series season begins Feburary 5-8 at the Winternationals in Pomona, California.
