LAS VEGAS (April 8, 2018) – After earning his first NHRA win last October in Las Vegas, Terry McMillen and his AMALIEⓇ Motor Oil XTERMIGATORⓇ team had high hopes for a repeat this weekend at the Spring event. However the team fell short in the opening round of the first 4-Wide race at The Strip at Las Vegas.
“We’re getting better, we’re just not where we want to be right now,” a disappointed McMillen said after his first round loss. “We missed a great opportunity today to make a move up the points ladder, it just didn’t work out the we had planned.”
McMillen remains tenth in points after the fourth race of the season. “We just had a few small gremlins that kept us chasing our tails a little bit this weekend,” McMillen continued.
Although the race didn’t turn out how McMillen had hoped, he was impressed with many things. “If you look at this weekend, I think it was a big success for everyone involved with the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series,” McMillen said. “There were sell out crowds on both Saturday and Sunday. Bruton Smith and the staff at the drag strip did an outstanding job in preparing the inaugural 4-Wide event. The track was amazing. I think it was much better than any of us had expected. We have to say thanks to them, the NHRA and the fans for all of the support, It was a great weekend in that aspect.”
McMillen and team are looking forward to their next opportunity to race April 20-22 at the NHRA Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas
