About – Terry McMillen

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Terry is the team owner of Hoosier Thunder Motorsports, a multi-car drag racing team based in Brownsburg, Indiana. Terry, a perennial NHRA fan favorite, has competed in a variety of drag racing classes including Alcohol, Nitro Funny Cars and Top Fuel Dragsters.

In 2010 Terry began racing full-time on the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing series, barely missing the Countdown to the Championship. His team entered the final race before the countdown just 20 points behind Connie Kallita’s car driven by Dave Grubnic.

From 2004 through 2015, McMillen set several career bests, including:

2016

  • First Final Round appearance – loss to Brittany Force – Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals at Gainesville, Florida
  • Reset career best elapsed time 3.762 @325.59 mph at Topeka

2015

  • Raced to 2 semifinal round appearances at Atlanta and Englishtown

2014 

  • Raced to 3 quarter-final round appearances
  • New Career best E.T. 3.806 Pomona 1

2013 

  • Raced to 3 semifinal appearances at Las Vegas 1, Epping and Chicago
  • New Career best ET 3.814 – Pomona 2
  • New Career best MPH 326.71 – Houston
2012 
  • New Career best ET – 3.822 Reading
  • Career best qualifying effort- 3rd Bristol

2011 

  • New Career best ET  – 3.856 Charlotte 2

  • 3rd Place in IHRA Alcohol Funny Car Points
  • New personal ET  and Speed records in AFC – 5.825 @ 241.97 mph

2010 IHRA Top Fuel

  • New Personal ET and Speed record in 1/4 mile Top Fuel – 4.665 @ 322.42 mph (Grand Bend Motorplex Track Speed Record)
  • Reset 1/8th mile IHRA ET World Record 3.106 ET
  • 3rd Place in IHRA Top Fuel Dragster Point Standings
  • 3 Career Wins and 6 final round appearances in the last 2 IHRA seasons

2009 NHRA Top Fuel

  • First NHRA Round Win – Antron Brown – Charlotte

Terry was also the recipient of the 2005 “Sportsman of the Year”, considered by the IHRA as the highest award given.
