MILAN, Mich. – Terry McMillen, driver of the Amalie Oil InstiGator Funny and the Torco Nitro Top Fuel Dragster experienced one of those rare days that every drag racer dreams about. More like a nightmare actually, but a dream none the less.
McMillen, fresh of his second win at Toronto in the Foley / Lewis Torco Nitro Top Fuel Dragster, failed to qualify his hotrod. “It’s about like a roller coaster ride sometimes,” McMillen said. “It’s the highest of highs and lowest of lows. And to think some people think this is fun all of the time,” he joked.
While McMillen fell short of the field in his Torco powered Amalie Oil InstiGator Funny Car, he was encouraged at his final qualifying attempt. “We found a lot of power on that last run,” McMillen said. “We spun the tires all the way through first gear and well into second gear. This car is ready to fly. We’ll see what happens in Maryland.”
